Howdy. I'm the award-winning artist and writer, Blake Ovard.
My art and writing has been featured in publications and films of all size from independent to major production houses and publications, local to regional, national and international.
I am a trained journalist, editor, writer and author, with thousands of news, magazine and feature stories and multiple children's and comic books under my belt. There is always a "next project" in the queue, and currently that includes another issue of my award-winning independent comic book, Tugg: A Hero Among Us, as well as a YA adventure novel.
In art, I have been known to tackle everything from multi-story and single-wall murals, like the one I did for Bank of America for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, to obviously comics, paintings and some wood carving and sculpture work.
While I enjoy all media, I specialize in watercolor and pen & ink work. That may include line and wash, which combines watercolor and pen & ink, or pen & ink done in stippling (all dots). Watercolor techniques I tend to work more of a dry and damp brush, but do occasionaly wok wet into wet.
All of that comes together easily in my comic, Tugg: A Hero Among Us, which is based on the super hero adventures of our bull terrier, Tugg. (You may have seen him on the Rachael Ray Show, and he has his own Facebook page you can check out.)
